However, the idea of a highly organized, all-powerful program called 'Operation Mockingbird' is mostly based on one controversial book from 1979. There is no declassified document showing a massive, single project by that name. Treating every media bias today as a continuation of this program is an oversimplification of how complex newsrooms actually work.
