Early Gnostics did not use the word loosh, but they shared the fundamental premise that earthly life is, by its very nature, painful and absurd. Unlike orthodox Christians who blamed humanity's fall for the world's flaws, Gnostics boldly blamed the creator. For them, salvation was not about moral redemption, but acquiring gnosis—direct, experiential knowledge of one's divine origin, which allows the soul to escape the material trap.
