They do not lock your thoughts behind subscription paywalls or proprietary AI systems. A simple plain-text file will remain readable by any computer decades from now. True writing requires a quiet, distraction-free space, free from constant automated pop-ups and suggestions. This view would only change if AI assistants could work completely offline with total privacy.
