A graph is never simply the world; it is a record produced by instruments, institutions, definitions, and reporting choices. Link prediction therefore reveals both hidden structure and the assumptions of the observer. Its most interesting output may be a ranked set of questions rather than a completed network—a map of where knowledge is thin.
