Some believe Cooper was Richard McCoy Jr., a Vietnam veteran who pulled off a nearly identical skyjacking just five months later. McCoy's own children recently claimed their father was Cooper and that they found a parachute in their mother's shed. While McCoy was a skilled pilot, the FBI never officially linked him to the Cooper case before he was killed in a shootout in 1974.
