From 1953 to 1964, the CIA set up a top-secret program to see if they could control human minds. They used powerful drugs like LSD, hypnosis, and extreme electroshock therapy. Many of the test subjects had no idea they were part of an experiment. The government wanted to find a way to wipe people's memories and force them to tell the truth during interrogations. They even tested these methods on prisoners and patients in hospitals.
