Frequent use of AI tools reduces the amount of critical thinking workers do on the job.

Researchers from Microsoft and Carnegie Mellon University surveyed over three hundred knowledge workers. They found that the more people leaned on AI to get things done, the less they used their own critical thinking skills. Instead of solving problems, their jobs shifted to just checking the AI's work and putting the pieces together. It is like letting a calculator do the math while you just write down the answer.
