Trust in AI-generated answers strongly correlates with the credibility of the cited sources they provide.

A UK Ipsos survey found that over 90% of people trusted AI answers when the sources cited were completely trusted. Conversely, trust plummeted to about 10% when the sources were distrusted. This shows that AI's perceived reliability depends heavily on transparent, credible sourcing, even more than on the answer’s wording or confidence.
